Important update

Over the last 14 years, as a game studio we have seen many ups and downs. The industry has changed significantly, and we have come a long way since our early days. We have grown from two programmers joining forces to a studio of nearly 60 people. In the past few years we have seen steady double-digit growth numbers. As a bootstrapped company, this growth has allowed us to pick up bigger projects and attract amazing people who are a pleasure to work with.

However, growth also comes at a cost. We are finishing a big project soon, and sadly we have no project signed yet to fully replace it. Therefore, in order to secure the future of the studio, we have decided to reorganize and reduce the workforce in the upcoming months.

As a result of that decision, today we announced that 14 people will be laid off, and a number of temporary contracts will not be renewed.

The people who are affected by this are highly skilled individuals, and we are sorry to see them go. We hope that they will be able to find a good place at other companies in the games industry, and wish them all the best. We are actively supporting them to find something new, so if you are reading this, please let us know if you are aware of any opportunities for them.

We want to take this moment to deeply express our gratitude towards these Paladins for sharing the journey with us, and for giving their best in making great games.

As to what’s next for Paladin, our primary objective is to become a leaner, more agile, and more effective development studio. We strongly believe in the games that we currently have in development, and we will share more soon.

Sincerely,
Kay & Derk
